Come down early to get your psuedo-punk fixes, then hang around for the inevitable descent into a raging underground party mess. Our bag of tricks include $4.5 BEERS and $5 SPIRITS all night, MARKC leading the DJ wars with THIRSTY DEDDS and a bunch of special guests, dark corners and chilled out Q-Ts just wanting to have a good time.

The Oxford Art Factory are pleased to announce that we have installed a proper band PA in the gallery bar, and plan to break it in with a new weekly Wednesday night – YELLOW BRICK ROAD.

YBR showcases up and coming bands that may not have had many opportunities to play at established venues. We want bands who can draw approximately two garage loads of people to a gig, to give them a chance to build up their profile and fan base, and give their careers a good nudge along the way to the stage where they’re headlining their own shows in the main room at OAF. We know that there’s a world of talent out there waiting for an opportunity to be heard, and we have some very exciting acts planned for the coming months.

For the kids, entry is free and the booze is cheap ($4 beers and $5 spirits!), which is a pretty strong incentive to get out on a Wednesday night. If you need another good reason, one of our favourites is the sheer joy of seeing a band play a house party style gig. Band on the floor, so close you can smell them, and the dance floor at risk of intrusion by rogue band members. We love the electricity of a band playing in an intimate space, and we reckon you should get along and experience it for yourself.

The next YBR is on Wednesday 25th February, and features Sydney indie darlings, The Spirits.

This Friday EX NUNS will be going nuts in Phoenix again. Some people seem to be confused as to where Phoenix actually is. It is the downstairs basement where HOT DAMN used to be back in the day that everyone lost their shit in and the pipe got broken and place got flooded. Yeah!

Our mate Andrew Hill, otherwise known as the infamous ANDY ZAO, has decided to take part in the cancer research fundraising initiative 'World's Greatest Shave'. The following is from the man himself:

I have decided to take part in the World's Greatest Shave this year to
support and raise some coin for the Leukaemia Foundation. My salt and pepper
hair and fierce but patchy beard are going under the blade. Getting rid of
all the hair on my melon is an easy sacrifice to make to help a good cause,
and I'm sure lots of you would love to see me bald and ugly, so get out your
plastic and chuck some sponsorship my way...

Most of us have been affected or know someone who has been affected by a
family member or friend having cancer. It is horrible. Raising money for
research that could one day possibly lead to prevention or a cure by
attacking my head with a blade is the least I could do...

Any donations at all would be massively appreciated not just by us, or Andy, but by everyone who has been through the trauma of living with cancer or watching someone close to them have to live through it, or in some cases not.

If you aren't the donating-on-the-internet type we will have money boxes at the door of EX NUNS each week till the shave goes down for any spare change you might want to contribute to the cause. disclaimer: these photos were not taken by our usual, very competent (and cute to boot!) photographer ms petra o'halloran. they were taken by a series of raging drunks who would run off with the camera for 20 minutes at a time before returning with another 50 shots snapped off. i also don't think anyone started taking photos till 2am or so which would help explain why everyone in them is such a god damn mess
